Radon Testing in Progress
A radon test is currently being conducted in your home as part of the buyer’s inspection process. This test typically lasts between 48 and 72 hours, and the inspector will return to pick up the machine 2–3 days after the inspection—unless the device was placed before the inspection, in which case it will be retrieved during the inspection appointment.
What You Need to Know
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can enter homes through the foundation. The test we are performing will measure the radon levels inside the property to help ensure a safe environment for future occupants.
During the Test, Please Follow These Guidelines
To ensure accurate results, it is important to maintain closed-building conditions:
- Keep all windows closed for the entire testing period.
- Keep exterior doors closed, except for normal entry and exit.
- Do not operate fans or systems that draw in outside air, such as whole-house fans or attic fans.
- Do not use fireplaces or wood stoves, unless they are the primary heat source.
It is okay to:
- Operate heating and air conditioning systems as you normally would (including auto mode).
- Use small exhaust fans (e.g., bathroom or range hoods) sparingly.
- Enter and exit the home as needed.
Do Not Tamper with the Radon Machine
- Do not unplug, move, or cover the radon testing device.
- The equipment is sensitive and can detect disturbances, which will void the test.
- The device is not harmful and does not contain cameras or recording equipment.
